Leah Davis
Mercer University Graduate school Intern
My therapeutic approach is strengths-based, helping women utilize their abilities and capacities to move through whatever it is that they are facing. I use reflection and active listening to help you determine what is best for you! I also pull from existential theory to help women make meaning of life’s challenges. Finally, I also mindfulness and the mind-body connection to address symptoms related to depression and anxiety.
Prior to going back to school to become a counselor, I worked as a lawyer in various high pressure environments including a law firm in New York City and a federal judge in South Carolina. I understand the demands that are being put on women in the workplace. My desire is to help women get in touch with their passions while helping them navigate challenging workplace and personal situations.
My areas of interest include maternal mental health, infertility and infant loss, postpartum depression and anxiety, balancing career and family, stress and professional burnout, mid-life career changes, mindfulness, and the mind-body connection. As the grandchild of Holocaust survivors, I am also interested in generational trauma and the role that it plays in anxiety and depression in women in our society.
I grew up in Columbia, South Carolina. I received my undergraduate degree in Public Policy Studies from Duke University and I also have a law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in New York City. I am licensed to practice law in New York, New Jersey, South Carolina and Georgia. I have completed all of my coursework in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling master’s program at Mercer University and will be applying to be a licensed professional counselor upon graduation in May 2025.
I live in the Atlanta area with my husband and two young boys. In my free time, I love to go to a yoga or pilates class, hike with my family, read books, see musical theatre performances, take piano lessons, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and cook for my family.
